It is well known that we hear music on various levels: For example, "bathing ourselves" in its agreeable sonorities...; listening atentively and creating images in our mind...; listening intellectually, or rather, listening to music with a specific purpose or goal in mind. The first two levels are more generalized. However, to listen at this third level, to achieve pleasure from this intellectual musical understanding, one needs to know the inner workings of the language of music - elements, organization, instrumentation etc.. This type of understanding has typically been reserved for those who have a "formal" education in music. Can the average person or student achieve this level of understanding of classical music? Yes they can. With modern didactical methods using graphical representations of music it is possible to help every listener understand the why and how of any musical discourse. This is the case of my MUSICAL SCHEMATICS where without being manuscript, they contain the guide of the musical sonorities of the contemplated works, in such a way that anyone can follow the schematic while listening to the evolvement of the music, being completely aware at all times: what happened, what is happening and what is left to happen during the rest of the auditive session. To resume, these MUSICAL SCHEMATICS allow the listener to capture, in an amplified sense, the content of the musical work which produces superior intellectual pleasure, which has normally been reserved for the musically knowing. The MUSICAL SCHEMATICS, printed on transparencies, are a first rate didactical tool for musical education on any level. They immediatley hook the student in the auditive session, and allow them to verify, through the use of control sheets, the degree to which they have been able to follow the musical discourse and evaluate themselves quickly and precisely. Not only myself, but many teachers will attestify to the fact that it works.
My name is Jesús Sanz Arribas. I am a music teacher with an extensive pedagogic trajectory in "Centros Superiores de Música" as well as "Centros de Bachillerato". I have been called upon to give specialized courses about the analitical-intellectual understanding for music teachers, and it is my pleasure to present you with a new idea resulting from my vast teaching experience in the understanding of Classical Music, or at least, the most popular works such as the Symphonies of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert, or the smaller popular works of Vivaldi, Bach, Brahms, Chopin, etc.
