How to employ the MUSICAL SCHEMATICS

In this article I will explain how to make use of my MUSICAL SCHEMATICS.

Basically its very easy, but it neccesary to make clear some of the conventionalisms. Each work is structerd in more or less big "paragraphs": These are the wide strips names in capital letters "A", "B" …, or with titles such as "Exposition", "Developement" etc. Each one of these large sections is divided into compartments. And lastly, the whole is regulated by bar numbers, which is the way that a composer "measures" his music. Below you will see these principle divisions:

The schematics include many "incipit" or musical beginnings, to orientate you.

The length of the strips is in direct proportion to the number of bars. The width and the colour have no special significance except in the obvious: For example, Aquariun - from Carnaval of the Animals has a blue background; or the section of the first theme has a different colour intensity than that of the second theme; etc..

And finally, the most important thing is to listen to the work while looking at the schematic. Students will need some brief explanations before beginning so that all is perfectly clear. Evidently there is some content, such as the musical "incipit", or tonal references, reserved for teachers or musically advantageous students; but following the musical discourse is within everyone's reach.
